(ii) Frame: Frame is that part of the conveyor on which the roller axles rest and are fixed to. The conveyor frame is fabricated from angle or channel sections. The roller axles are held in slots cut in the flanges of the frame. The axles are flat machined at the ends so that the axles do not rotate in the slots. Axial movement of the axles are prevented by using split pins or lock plates. For heavy rollers, the axes may be fixed on the frame by clamps. Typical idle rollers with bearing fittings and their attachment to the frame is shown in Fig. 6.6.3.
