According to the polysaccharide characteristics, the selection of
an extraction method is very important; it is based on the structure
and water-solubility of the polysaccharide, and depends especially
on the cell wall structure. The basic principle is to break the cell
wall from the outer layer to the inner layer under mild-to-strong
extraction conditions (pH and temperature) (Zhang et al., 2007).
Based on this principle, most polysaccharides are extractable with
hot water, or acidic, saline and dilute alkali solutions, or with
dimethyl sulfoxide
