Hindu temple was not intended to accommodate
worshippers but was meant to be viewed from the
outside. Temple were used as altars, a residence
of gods, or a shelter for people who would worship
for enlightenment. Many temples were built in
Northern India and the most outstanding is the
Hindu temple in Khanjuraho in central India
