Bangladesh Congestion Surcharge Implementation
Dear Valued Customer,
The port congestion situation in Chittagong, Bangladesh has been deteriorating in the past weeks. All shipping lines calling Chittagong terminals are still heavily impacted, with vessels having to lengthen the port stay in Chittagong from previous 4-5 days to now 7-10 days due to long queuing at berth and slow port productivity given heavily congested terminal yards.
In line with this, please be informed that we will be implementing Congestion Surcharge (EMI) on all imports going into Chittagong, Dhaka and Pangaon in Bangladesh. This EMI surcharge will be collected at origin and will apply to all Chittagong-bound shipments that will depart origin ports from 1st July 2016 onwards. The quantum is as follows: Container Size Congestion Surcharge 20’ dry / reefer USD 50 40’ dry / HC / reefer USD 50
We will keep working closely with the terminals and port authorities on this matter in a constant effort to alleviate the situation and continue to provide you the best service possible during this challenging period.
We thank you for your understanding and continued support. Should you have any questions, concerns or clarifications, you may reach out to your local MCC Transport representatives.
Yours Faithfully,
MCC Transport Singapore Pte. Ltd
