As can be seen in Table 1, a search of the literature has produced information about 23 different cell lines that have been used to evaluate the cytotoxic effect of prenylated flavonoids. The majority of them belong to cell lines derived from leukemia. Several attempts to compare the antiproliferative effects of the prenylated flavonoids more systematically have been carried out. The P-388 murine leukemia cell line has been used by Hakim et al. (2006) to compare cytotoxic activities of compounds isolated from different Artocarpus
species, and a study by Sˇmejkal et al. (2010) showed the activity of several variously substituted geranylat- ed flavonoids on multiple myeloma (RPMI 8226 and U 266) cell lines, the T lymphoblastic CEM cell line, and THP-1 monocytes. The immonusupressive activ- ity of geranylated flavonoids on BALB/c mice splenic lymphocytes has also been evaluated (Shou et al. 2009).
