where Y represents the response parameter, Bi the block
effect, Dj treatment effect, BDij interactions between block
and treatment and ∈ij experimental error. Pens were considered
the experimental unit and differences between least
square treatment means were assessed using the least significant
differences (LSD) test (P < 0.05) according to SAS.
Contrast analyses, comparing both acid treatments to the
control, were used to assess the response to adding acids to
the diet. No interactions were observed between treatment
and block effects.
