Results Bivariate
correlations
among
stressor,
proposed
mediators,
and
the
outcome
variable
are
shown
in
Table
1.
Pearson
product
moment
correlations
indicated
that
the
build
up
of
stressors
was
positively
correlated
with
family
distress
(outcome),
and
negatively
correlated
with
the
proposed
mediators.
Family
hardiness
was
negatively
related
to
family
distress,
and
positively
related
to
perceived
social
support
and
self-efficacy.
Child
age
was
not
correlated
with
any
variable,
and
independent
samples
t-tests
(unequal
variances
assumed
given
the
uneven
group
sizes)
indicated
that
there
were
no
differences
between
mothers
of
males
and
females
with
ASD
(all
p
>
.05).
