Dystrophic basin peat forms in topgraphic basins and is fed by waters that are poor in minerals. These peats usually supports vegetation communities dominated by heathers and nutrient -poor grasses. Where the bog has risen to the extent that the groundwater has little influence, the dominant vegetation community is heathland.
Dystrophic semi-confined peat is fed by waters that are poor in minerals and usually supports vegetation communities dominated by heathers and nutrient -poor grasses.
