Support for subjective norms influencing communication technology use in older adults has been little studied. In one applicable study, Mathur (1999) found that adoption of new technologies in older adults was positively influenced by encouragement from younger family members.
Though evidence supporting subjective norms predicting technology acceptance is mixed, support for their influence on use of communication technology leads to the following hypothesis.
H3. Social pressures from family and friends to use SNS will be positively related to intention to use SNS.
