The provision of choice is a good start. Every lesson plan is capable of presenting choices to pupils. Where this doesn’t occur naturally as essential to the activities, it’s usually easy to add it. There can be choice if content or choice of structure. There can be choice of outcome. A pupil can express his understanding in a range of ways, spoken or written. Of course, pupils may tend rewards easy or repetitive choices, but you’re a teacher – you guide them. This is all fairly obvious, but are you actually looking at your lesson plans and modifying them to provide choice? It’s a straightforward way of importing some SFC within a controlled framework.
