The aims of the present study were (1) in a casecontrol
design to compare muscle function during fatiguing
muscle contractions in women with trapezius myalgia and
healthy controls and (2) in a randomized controlled trial
to investigate the effect of contrasting types of physical
rehabilitation in women with trapezius myalgia on muscle
function during fatiguing muscle contractions. Additionally,
analyses of electromyographic recordings and muscle
biopsies were included to investigate neural and muscular
adaptations. We hypothesized that specific strength training
and general fitness training would be superior to the reference
intervention with regard to improved muscle function.
