Asiatique the Riverfront is a recently opened shopping area on the Riverside in Bangkok. The Asiatique shopping districts are built at the place where the old Bangkok trading port used to be. All the old warehouses have been transformed into shops, restaurants and theaters.
The idea of Asiatique Riverfront is to offer an area where the people from Bangkok and tourists can spend a pleasant evening while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the Chao Phraya River. You can stroll along the promenade and enjoy a magnificent sunset; after that do some shopping at one of the 1000 boutiques that Asiatique has to offer.
Shopping makes hungry, which is no problem because there are plenty nice Thai and International restaurants at Asiatique the Riverfront. Asiatique also offers two theaters including the Joe Louis Puppet Theater that closed down 2 years ago and luckily has the chance to reopen again in Bangkok. At the Calypso Theater you can enjoy one of Bangkok’s best lady boy shows.
Asiatique the Riverfront is opened every day, the shops open at 17:00 and close around midnight. The pubs in at Asiatique such as Flann O’Brien’s stay open till late. Asiatique offers a free ferry service to and from the Sathon Pier next to the Saphan Taksin BTS station. Between 17:00 and 20:00 the ferry can be found at the Sheraton Pier, and from 20:00 till 23:30 at the Chao Phraya Express Boat pier.
