Participants identified a multifaceted communication strategy
similar to the multi-pronged message dissemination strategy
used in social marketing described by Mattson and Basu (2010)
as an effective way of communicating this important policy
change. This will need commitment at all levels of the health
system to craft and disseminate relevant culturally and scientifically
sound messages using multifaceted communication
strategies proposed by the study participants. These should
inform current planning in South Africa for a communication
strategy.
