As shown in Fig. 5, carotid arterial compliance
significantly increased in the Theracurmin, EX + placebo, and
EX + Theracurmin groups, whereas no such changes were observed
in the placebo group. The magnitude of the increase in carotid
compliance was the greatest in the EX + Theracurmin group. The
percent change in carotid arterial compliance was significantly
greater in the Ex + Theracurmin group than in the placebo group
(Fig. 6). On the other hand, the percent change in the Theracurmin
group or the Ex + placebo group statistically did not differ
compared with the placebo group. These results suggest that
Theracurmin improves carotid arterial compliance like aerobic exercise training. In addition, Theracurmin and exercise training
improved vascular endothelial function in postmenopausal women
as measured by
flow-mediated dilation [31].
