The literature searches were conducted at a number of
PlantLIBRA project partner institutions. Two scientific databases
of references and abstracts on life sciences and biomedical topics
(PubMed/MEDLINE which comprises more than 21 million citations
for biomedical literature, and Embase which contains over
24 million indexed records and more than 7500 journals) were systematically
searched. The following search strategy and selection
criteria were used: PubMed/MEDLINE and Embase were searched
from database inception to December 2013 with the terms ‘‘adverse
effect/s’’, ‘‘poisoning/s’’, ‘‘plant food supplement/s’’,
‘‘misidentification/s’’, and ‘‘interaction/s’’ in combination with the
respective plant name (Di Lorenzo et al., 2014).
