Tsurumiryokuchi Expo 90 Commemorative Park in Osaka's Tsurumi Ward, which served as a venue for the 1990 flower is becoming popular expo, a weekend spot among cosplayers. In early November about 60 cosplay fans gathered to take photographs in the 120 hectare park, which boasts gardens showcased by about 50 countries at the Interna- tional Garden and Greenery Exposition. In the Japanese garden, one cosplayer was dressed as a ninja from Naruto, a popular manga comic series, while another character from Attack on Titan posed in front of a Western-style building. A 28-year-old female cosplayer visiting from Kobe said she has been to the park many times. "It is so liberating," she said. "There are many buildings and gardens that make my costume stand out, and I can really get into the character" Cosplay fans started appearing in the park on week- ends about four years ago, and its reputation spread apparently by word of mouth, attracting more and more fans, according to the Tsurumi Ward office The office said, however, that it has also started receiving complaints from other parkvisitors about"cos- players occupying the toilets" to put on their make-up in front of the mirrors, or even that"they change their clothes outside
