The product after 72 h biotransformation using dry cells of the
recombinant E. coli (Calb/Tll) (4 wt%) was analyzed by GC using
an INNOWAX column. It is a clean FAME, with only the expected
peaks of methyl esters of palmitic, linoleic, oleic, and stearic acids
in GC chromatogram. The ratio is as the same as that of the corresponding
fatty acids/esters in grease. Further GC analysis with a
BD-ASTMD6584 column confirmed that the final product is free
of mono-, di- and tri-glycerides.
