The proposed methods are known for the generation
of free primary aromatic amine in one pot in a
simple step using the same nitrous acid diazotizing the
drug. The methods are selective as the free aromatic
amine group formed preferentially interacts with nitrous
acid to form the diazotized product which is later
coupled with either NEDA or CTA to form very stable
dye stuff. The results obtained show that the proposed
methods can be useful in the determination of FUR in
spiked human urine at the levels obtained after the administration
of normal clinical doses in patients. The
methods have also been successfully extended to the
determination of FUR in commercial pharmaceutical
preparations when present either alone or in combination
with amiloride hydrochloride.
