4.2.2. Wind power
Considering the whole country, Kenya does not have strong
winds to drive large scale wind turbines except in certain parts of
Kenya such as Turkana, Marsabit, Ngon or the coastal region with
average wind speed ranging from 8 to 14 m/s [5,34]. However,
the average wind speed in many locations is capable of driving
small wind turbines [5,34]. According to the Meteonorm data
base, the annual average wind speed in Garissa is 4.4 m/s. The
Monthly average wind speed in Garissa during a year is shown in
Fig. 3.
