Manchester United will not challenge rivals City to hire Pep Guardiola as their next boss.
The Bayern Munich manager is seeing out the rest of the season with the Bundesliga champions before quitting in May and confirmed yesterday that his next destination will be the Premier League.
The hugely successful Spaniard has won two Bundesliga titles at Bayern and previously swept the board at Barcelona with a trophy haul amounting to 14 pieces of silverware in four years.
“The reason I have not extended my contract is simple. I want to manage in the Premier League,” he said.
“I want to experience the atmosphere in England. I am 44 and it is the right time to go there. I need a new challenge.
