6.5. Conclusions
For the mono-combustion of agricultural waste several
systems are available. The predominantly used systems
are grate-firing combustors, suspension burners and fluidized
bed combustors. The selection of the most suitable
furnace design depends upon the size of the unit desired,
the properties of the available fuel and the purpose of the
furnace is for (e.g. for production of high pressure steam).
Grate-fired combustors were the most versatile units in the
mid of the eighties but the fluidized bed systems have
become serious competitors of it in the last decade.
