Initial vital signs must
include pulse oximetry and facial oxygen should be
administered if saturation levels fall below 95%.
Oral fluids are encouraged but in the event of
vomiting/diarrhoea or severe pain then intravenous
fluids will be necessary with commencement of a
strict fluid balance chart (Oteng-Ntim et al, 2008;
Howard and Oteng-Ntim, 2012).
