New team leaders often misunderstand their role. Good team leaders are receptive to member contributions and don’t reject or promote ideas because of their own personal views. Good team leaders summarize information, stimulate discussion, create awareness of problems, and detect when the team is ready to resolve differences and agree to a unified solution. Training in how to support disagreement and manage meetings is especially useful for new work team leaders.
