In a move that proves you can get crowdfunded for pretty much anything these days, a marketer has launched a Kickstarter campaign for an event called Harambe Live.
Trading on the hugely popular Harambe memes, Vincent Dignan wants to hold an event for "Harambe fanatics". In reality, though, it Dignan's way of getting publicity and funding for a course he wants to run on how to create viral content.
The campaign has already raised more than £1,125 of the £999. Posting on the Kickstarter page, Dignan writes – somewhat a little crassly given the impact of the deaths this year – "2016 has been a tough year. We've lost so many greats.

"But Harambe has been one of the most devastating losses. The most painful for many of us. Join us for this special event as we celebrate the life of the Western Lowlands gorilla.
"If this event is funded, it will be the world's biggest gathering of Harambe fanatics, and one of the biggest memes IRL events ever held in London. Right now we only experience memes in isolation on our phones or laptops. It is my mission and goal to bring memes in to the real life."
The majority of the rest of the campaign is written tongue-in-cheek and if it was April, we may be inclined to believe it was an April Fool's. Either way, the campaign has had 41 backers with 18 days left.
