Eight male workers aged 41.198.9 years
(mean9SD) exposed to toluene in a factory manufacturing
cathode ray tubes (CRT), were engaged
in mixing pigments into toluene. They did
not wear masks on the first day but did on the
second. Another eight workers in the same shop
did not wear masks. For confirming the results of
the regression equations, the toluene concentrations
in the air were compared with the biological
exposure indicators of the samples from all the
workers. The masks used in this study were chemical
cartridge respirators (Kouken Co. Type R8A,
Tokyo, Japan).
