5.10 Fork Lifts
5.10.1 Operators and Banksmen
1) The efficiency and safety in use of forklifts depends mainly on the competence of those who control, maintain and operate the equipment.
2) Operators must be adequately trained in all aspects of fork lift operation.
3) Project Management must not allow personnel to operate forklifts without written authorization, relating to specified types of fork lift.
4) Banksmen should be over 21 years of age and medically fit, with good eyesight, hearing and reflexes. They should be familiar with any communication systems or signals used in association with the machine’s operation and have been sufficiently trained in the workings of the fork lift to be able to direct the driver as necessary.
