Yesterday the Capcom-Unity blog offhandedly mentioned Street Fighter 5 would launch in spring 2016, in a post announcing a couple of Street Fighter t-shirts. This is news to Street Fighter fans, who so far hadn't been given any kind of a release window for the next edition of the franchise.
The post was a listing of all the merchandise Capcom is bringing to PAX East 2015, underway now in Boston. "Everyone is fired up for Street Fighter V coming to the PS4 and PC next Spring," the listing reads.
Polygon has reached out to a Capcom representative to ask if this mention is erroneous, inadvertent, or advertent. We'll update if they reply.
Update: A Capcom representative says, "What was listed was just a tentative release time and no official announcements have been made."
Street Fighter 5 will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The latest news on the franchise is that Capcom will run an online beta for the game at some point, providing access for all who pre-order the game.
