Sound/Noise Levels
Sound is a form of motion generated by propagation
of pressure waves. It is measured along two
dimensions: frequency (cycles/second) and intensity
(decibels). Decibels are measured on a logarithm
scale so that small changes in decibel levels
can significantly affect the amount of noise. Noise
is unwanted sound; thus the perception of noise can
vary from one individual to another or from nurse
to infant
