Some studies have attributed the enhanced plant growth underthe combination of salinity and elevated [CO2] – with respect to saltstress alone – to an improvement in water relations (Bowman andStrain, 1987; Pérez-López et al., 2009a), in addition to increased netphotosynthesis. However, predictions of climate change impacts onplant water relations depend on the cultivar and additional knowl-edge is needed about the interaction between enhanced [CO2] andsalinity, regarding the mechanisms involved in plant water homeo-stasis.
