The Hindu caste system is the hierarchical social structure in which people belonging to different castes have neither the same duties nor the same privileges. Although in reality there are almost Innumerable castes, ideally, and as presented in the codes, there are four castes. The Brahman or priestly and teaching caste has the of acquiring and spreading knowledge. Brahmans are the keepers of the Vedas: they are exempt from working for their sustenance. The Khatriya or kingly and warrior caste has the duty of protecting people from criminal and political dangers. Members have the privilege of sharing the Brahmans' knowledge and Vaisyas' wealth, as well as the service of the Sudras. The Vaisya or producing and cultivating caste has the duty of generat!ng and distributing wealth. Members have the privilege of sharing the Brahmans know- service. The Sudras have the edge, the Khatry as protection, and the Sudras duty of all. They entitled to the Khatriyas protection and Vaisyas serving are wealth, but they are denied the right to share the Brahmans wisdom.
