Biofuels as the primary products of the biochemical conversion of
biomass can play a key role in Iran’s energy outlook. Governmental
plans concerning renewables have authorized the development of bioenergy applications. A wide variety of crops are cultivated in Iran.
Wheat, barley, rice, and corn are cereal crops that are extensively
cultivated in Iran. Cereal residue has been highlighted for bioenergy
production in 1605 publications from 2000 to 2014.
