Kwan Phayao Lake : In Lanna period, the prior kingdom, the word “Kwan” means a pond or lake. Kwan Phayao is the third biggest lake in Thailand after Bueng Borapech in Nakornsawan province and Nong Harn in Sakolnakorn province. There is a water gate built in 1939 by the Department of Fisheries to store water, and that caused many temples to be buried under the water. However, Kwan Phayao is not only an essential water source of inland fisheries. But it is one of the Phayao’s famous tourist attractions surrounded by the beautiful mountains with their complex natural shapes that offers enjoyment.
