when i worked in brazil at the age of18, one of my seniors at my company introduced me to Nichiren Buddhism. impressed by the SGI members who warmly welcomed me at the meetings I attended, I decided to join SGI. the more I learned about the Soka spilit of challenge and the more I chanted daimoku, the stronger I felt about developing my potential and finding a more creative job.
After returning to Chile, while continuing with SGI activities, I began engaging more in video production and dress design. Thanks to having gained such experience, I eventually got a new job as a screenwriter.
In chile, where the film industry is not fully developed, there are not many opportunities for female screenwriters, but I have persisted nonetheless to create films that will give people hope. The wisdom and creativity I need for my work come from my daily prayers.
When SGI Present Ikeda visited Chile in 1993, he reminded us that the darkest hour is just before the dawn. His words still resound in my mind. Some viewers of the films I have written have commented that, in spite of experiencing repeated failures, they began to feel more opportunities would emerge as long as they never give up.
I used to lament not being able to have a child. My doctor told me that I would not be able to conceive, but I continued to receive infertility treatments until finally I was able to have my daughter, Laura. she now chants and enjoys going together to SGI meetings. I can say with confidence that in any life winter always turns to spring and that the sun never fails to rise.
