My decision to apply for the Korean Government Scholarship Program is precisely based on my ever-growing fascination with Korean culture and dream of studying abroad. I have always been interested in new things, things that are challenging and unfamiliar. I have spent a significant amount of my life in two countries, Thailand and the United Kingdom, and during that time I have discovered that I excelled at adapting to new surroundings and circumstances. I find it riveting to be surrounded by people I've never met before, to experience things that I've never come across, and to learn new skills along the way.
I was born in Khon Kaen, Thailand, where I now live. I’ve spent my childhood growing up in rural Thailand but soon after my 6th birthday, my parents decided to move our family, which consists of me, my father and my mother, to the United Kingdom. It was a very bizarre experience when I first arrived in the United Kingdom. It was my very first time experiencing such extremely cold weather, my first time ever being on an airplane, but after that, I had discovered that I love the thrill of travelling and moving to new places. It took a while for me and my mother to get accustomed to the new surroundings, but after being in the United Kingdom for a year, I had learnt to speak and write English as well as my peers. During that time, I had discovered a skill which I never knew I had, which was that I was a very quick learner. As well as that, I also found out that I enjoyed writing, and I wrote a poem which got featured in a book of poems by local school children.
When I moved into Secondary School, my school allowed us to choose additional classes, and after some advice from my father, I decided to take Business and Economics classes. After participating in the classes, I realized that I enjoyed these classes subsequently more than any other classes and that learning about what it takes to run businesses and learning how our economy actually runs was really fascinating. After I had finished year 10, which is the equivalent of finishing middle school, my family had decided that we would move back to Thailand for me to finish my studies. We arrived in Thailand in September of the year 2014 and I took 6 months off school to learn the Thai language to the best of my ability as I had forgotten a huge part of how to write and read Thai. By the time the 6 months was over, my Thai was still a bit rusty, but I could read and write better than before. When I took my entrance exams into Watklang Municipal School, I was ranked the 12th amongst all of the other applicants. Through the time I have spent in Watklang Municipal School, there has been some hardships such as not advancing in my studies as much as my peers due to language difficulties, and having a hard time adapting to the education system, but I have feel that I have overcome these hardships to the best of my ability and throughout this time, I have learnt how to persevere and how to be hardworking.
Although I could attend university here in Thailand, I think that it would be much more fitting if I studied in Korea. There are numerous reasons to why I would like to study in Korea, the main one being that Korea features advanced modern cities and a large population which is always on the go. Another point that makes Korea very appealing is that Korea is a combination of the old and the new, with beautiful temples and palaces alongside modern buildings and fast growing technology. As well as studying, I would also be able to learn more about the people, the history along with the fascinating culture of Korea. All of these characteristics of Korea make it the perfect place to study Business Administration.
In my opinion, some of my best characteristics is that I am very hardworking, once I have started on something, I will try my best until the very end, and also I have a strong passion for what I believe in. As well as being passionate, I am very resilient and I don't give up easily. Apart from that, I can also communicate in fluent English as I have spent 9 years of my childhood in the United Kingdom. The main reason that I have applied for this scholarship is to help lighten the load for my family. I know that my family wants to see me achieve my potential and I think that this scholarship is the perfect opportunity for me to accomplish both of these things. Even though I do not have a certificate to ensure my English language proficiency, I can assure you that the time that I have spent studying in the United Kingdom has not gone to waste. In regards to my Korean language proficiency, I admit that I only have basic knowledge but if I have opportunity as great as this scholarship, I will try my hardest to master the art of the Korean language.
In summary, I think that my characteristics are suitable for this scholarship program and that studying in Korea would have many advantages, not only will I get to learn about the culture, I will also gain an experienc
