Growing Up
1. This innovative activity helps students to practice past simple passive and active forms. Students begin by choosing passive or active sentences that best describe their personal story of growing up.
2. Students then get into groups of four and explain their choices to each other. After that, the students think about the recent past and write six things that have happened to them.
3. They write one past simple passive sentence and one past simple active sentence for each event. They tick the one that best suits their experience.
4. Then, the students work in their groups of four again and share their sentences and reasons for choosing either the passive or active form.
