EN 372 Thai-English Translation
Thai Culture Project
Directions:
1. Find a text IN THAI and ENGLISH about an aspect of Thai culture in which you are interested. (The English version should be a direct translation of the Thai version. Make sure the text is in an appropriate length. You can adjust the length or summarize it to suit your need.) Don’t forget to cite the source (s).
2. List out interesting vocabulary from the text. (at least 5 words)
3. Pair the translation and the original text sentence by sentence.
4. Plan a presentation on the information you’ve got.
5. Provide handouts and evaluation forms for your friends.
The handouts should include:
1. Thai text
2. English translation
3. Vocabulary from the text
4. Source (s)
5. Your names, numbers (NOT the student ID numbers) and section
6. BE CREATIVE! (However, you must use only paper to make your handout. Other materials such as plastic, cloth, etc are not allowed.)
Note:
1. The presentation should not be more than 10 minutes long.
2. Choose the best speaker(s).
3. For the PowerPoint presentation, make sure that the letters are big, easy to read and in appropriate colors. Don’t put too much information on one slide.
4. Any typing or spelling mistakes are not acceptable.
