5. Conclusion
Performing truncated selection in the dissemination steps was shown to increase the profit considerably. Most of the benefit of performing selection could be achieved without reducing the number of parents in the multiplier and grow-out tiers and even through performing selection only in one of the dissemination steps. To perform selection in one or more of the dissemination steps is therefore recommended, and could lead to increased profit both through the general effect of adding another selection step and through the possibility of making specialized selection with a different breeding goal than what is applied in the nucleus, to serve various environments or management systems.
