There are two prominent European projects related to our work: the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Program, namely, AGNES and EasyReach. These projects are somewhat based on the concept of Open architecture for Accessible Services Integration and Standardization, or the OASIS project which ended in 2011 that aimed to improve the quality of life for the elderly. In the AGNES project, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and Sweden have set up the system to keep elderly people mentally and socially invigorated and to keep them connected with others by combining both information and communication technologies and social network technologies. The objective of the project was to prevent, delay, and help govern general chronic conditions of the elderly people in order to improve and preserve their well-being and provide the elderly people with an ability to continue living in their own places. The idea was to combine the technologies with everyday activities to help elderly people recognize other people and surroundings. The other project is EasyReach.
