3.2.2. Spore–spore confrontation
The confrontation between the spores of F. solani and BCA was
assessed and the percent germination of the pathogenic fungus
conidia calculated after 10 and 24 h of incubation. The results
showed concentration-dependent inhibition of F. solani spores
germination (r = 0.971; p = 0.02). The incubation duration was also
found to impact the germination of T. atroviridae (r = 0.901;
p = 0.09). At concentration of 8 105 cells/mL, both BCAs showed
improved efficiency after 24 h of incubation. However, T. atroviridae showed to be more effective after the two time periods with
F. solani spores germination inhibition percentages of 27.93% and
34.36% respectively against 13.79% and 22.68% for Trichoderma
sp. (Fig. 3).
