I’ve been admitted! What’s next?
Before you come to Temple, complete the following steps:
#1Review your Certificate of Eligibility Application Form (I-20) and pay the SEVIS fee at fmjfee.com.
#2 If you need to apply for a student visa, contact a U.S. Embassy or consulate. Find a U.S. Embassy in your country by visiting usembassy.gov.
#3 Make your housing arrangements. As an IELP student you may either:
Stay with a host family. Learn more about Homestay, the program that connects students with host families.
Live in off-campus housing. Choose from many safe locations nearby to Temple. Learn more about renting an apartment.
#4 Arrange for health insurance.
You must enroll in a health insurance plan while attending IELP classes. Temple strongly recommends that you purchase insurance online before you leave your home country. Your policy should be valid from the day you depart your home country to come to Temple University. Read more about buying insurance.
#5 Sign up for orientation and IELP activities.
During orientation week, you will meet other IELP students, register for courses and explore Philadelphia. You will receive emails about orientation; register by clicking on the link in the email and completing a survey.
#6 Arrange to arrive during official arrival days.
Arriving on an official arrival day will allow you adequate time to recover from jet lag, acclimate to your new surroundings, meet other new students, get your living arrangements settled and take care of any logistical needs before classes begin. The U.S. government allows international students to enter the country up to 30 days before the program start date indicated on your I-20. See dates here. Transportation from Philadelphia International Airport to Temple is available during designated airport pickup days. You may register for free airport pickup through the orientation survey you will receive via email.
