DAY 3 In the third class, trim the rough edges of the mask with scissors. Then paint the mask using tempera or acrylic. Weak areas may be strengthened with white glue.
Now it's time to attach the elastic bands. It is easiest to make holes in the sides of the mask for the elastic band using an electric drill. A piece of 1/8inch elastic cord is threaded through the hole and tied in place.
I found fifth-grade plaster-gauze mask making engaging and fun. It is most definitely a project students will keep long after leaving fifth grade.
