Overall, results of the farm-based trial demonstrate that this method can produce darker, more desirable prawns that can fetch higher market prices. It perhaps has the most potential to correct the colour of prawns from ponds known to produce poor pigmentation, and equalise
the variation between ponds during harvesting and processing. It is equally important to ensure that the harvest method is not causing a significant loss of colour prior to cooking. However, the practicalities of intentionally holding large numbers of animals for long periods of
time may restrict its application.
