3.1. Batch processes with pre-treatment of solid waste
In this investigation, the cotton cellulose can dissolve completely in sulfuric acid with concentration of 55% (by volume)
at room temperature. The reduced sugar yields were 73.9% (g Rsugar/g cotton cellulose) with the initial cotton cellulose concentrations of 70 g/L. In a batch biohydrogen production process, the
optimal values of the hydrogen yield and substrate utilization were
0.95 mol H2/mol R-sugar and 98% at initial pH of 8.2 when substrate
concentration was fixed at 20 g R-sugar/L.
