Sr4Al14O25:Eu2+,Dy3+microparticles-containing phosphateglasses with excellent persistent luminescence properties weresuccessfully prepared using a standard melting process inair. The glasses within the P2O5Na2O CaO system showedlonger persistent luminescence than the glasses within theP2O5Na2O SrO system most probably due to the larger diffu-sion of Al and Sr from the microparticles to the SrO glass than tothe CaO glass. With this study we demonstrated a potential newalternative route for the preparation of glasses with persistentluminescence properties via melting phosphate glass batches-containing Sr4Al14O25:Eu2+,Dy3+microparticles.
