Our experiences in school teach us more than just information from books; they prepare us for life after school and how to function as productive members of society. With this in mind, I totally disagree that boys and girls should attend separate schools. This essay will discuss the key reasons for my opinion in greater detail.
First, I disagree that boys and girls should attend separate schools because mixed schools help boys and girls learn how to socialize with each other. For example, I do not have any sisters, so going to a school with girls gave me the opportunity to learn about communicating with girls. I did projects with them and played games with them. As a result, I learned to respect girls, seeing their strengths and understanding our differences. This knowledge has benefited me in my working life. In jobs, men and women work together. Without the social experiences of going to a school with boys and girls, I would be at a great disadvantage in the working world today.
Second, I disagree with separate schools for girls and boys because of the social problems they can cause later in life. I had a friend who went to an all-boys school and he did not have a chance to interact with girls on a daily basis. Consequently, he grew up being afraid of girls; they were always a mystery to him. Furthermore, when he finished school he did not know how to talk to girls and he had a lot of trouble dating. If he had a chance to be around girls on a regular basis, he could have seen them as normal people and not mysterious creatures to be scared of.
In conclusion, I feel that coeducational schools can help to prevent problems with men and women later in life. The only way to develop understanding is to interact, not to isolate.
