observed in the research of Ximenes et al. [19],
reported that phenols including lignin degradation
products were inhibitors and deactivators of
cellulolytic enzymes [19]. During the case of H2SO4
pretreatment, it was found that reducing sugar (51.58
g/L) obtained from unwashing solid residue was
similar to the reducing sugar (50.29 g/L) obtained after
enzymatic saccharification of washed solid residue.
These results indicated that the inhibitors from H2SO4
pretreatment (furfural and HMF) had no effect on
enzymatic saccharification (Fig. 1).
