Our
data provided additional support to this treatment approach. The longterm efficacy of RFA was superior to AAD therapy in maintenance of
sinus rhythm in patients with paroxysmal AF. At 24 months significantly
more patients in the RFA group were free from any AF and symptomatic
AF. This may be partly related to additional ablations, but as the majority
of reablations were performed before 12 months it is hardly the only explanation. Hence, catheter ablationprovided more durable antiarrhythmic effect than medication, although the cumulative AF burden was no
