1. Literati – The trunk certainly has movement
and is a focus point of the tree, which is one
of the first requirements of Literati, but the first
branch is normally 2/3 of the way up the trunk.
I would have to lose the branches on the right
which I had spent a great deal of time
cultivating. Literati may still be an option.
2. Sentimental reasons – being the first attempt
at notching I could have just left it in my stock
plants and never touched it. – What a waste.
3. Start again - Cut most of the tree back and
start again, this is a definite possibility as the
Swamp Cypress is a prolific grower and will
shoot back if cut back hard. Main problem
with this is I would have to remove some of
the notches that I have spent so long
cultivating
4. Graft some branches in – This is the elected
option, although I could have used a number
of grafting techniques to do this I have
decided to thread graft some branches.
