The game was originally announced in May 2013 for an early 2014 release date on PC and Mac, but that has since been pushed back to sometime in late 2014.
EA Games has confirmed the developer is targeting an “autumn 2014” release for the next iteration of the popular life simulator series.
The release date delay was to help “fuel [the] development process, helping The Sims 4 to be the most ambitious and the best game our studio has ever made,” according to The Sims 4 VP Executive Producer Rachel Franklin.
There's currently no information as to if and when the Xbox One and PS4 editions will be released.
