The visual interpretation of the results from the cost estimation can be compared to the suppliers RFQ by insterting the data from the RFQ sections in the “Supplier value” column. This will translate the detailed cost estimation to the rougher RFQ format to make a comparisson. The column to the far right named “Potential difference” gives indications on what factors that plays the largest part, in this case the purchased part is believed to be possible to source cheaper as been found in comparisson with other quotes. The row called “Other costs” which makes up overhead and profit is believed to be lower in the estimation compared to the supplier quote, this due to the fact that the overhead setting was changed from total cost to in-house value added + raw material.
One has to be able to look at the whole picture, the positive fields in the column “Potential difference” we believe the actual price of the post is higher than quoted and the negative lower. One has to choose his battles and in that case fight for the factor that holds importance, in the present case, in this case the purchased part has the largest potential of giving a large impact on savings.
